The Third Annual Canning for Kids Holiday Shopping Event-Benefiting The Ferrer FoundationIn Winter on November 30, 2015 at 6:00 am | Written by Gina Iliopoulos
We spent last week in the Mariani Holiday Shoppe and invite you to visit us there on Monday, December 7th, as we host the third annual Canning for Kids Holiday Shopping Event. Volunteers take a farm’s harvest and turn it into hundreds of jars to be featured at this event. Mariani Landscape is proud to host the event at our Lake Bluff Holiday Shoppe with wine, mulled cider, and tastings of some of the goods for sale. It will be a wonderful kick-off to the holiday season.
All the proceeds, including sales of canned goods and donations, will benefit The Ferrer Foundation, which is dedicated to implementing educational wellness programs for children in under-served communities and schools in the Chicago metropolitan area. Their focus is on children whose parents are incarcerated and with their Keeping the Peace Project they provide these often misunderstood children guidance and advocacy to direct them on to a successful path. Here are some of the canned goods you may find at the event-Bread and Butter Pickles, Pickled Peppers (hot), Spiced Pears, varieties of Pear Butter and Jam, Conserves, Chutneys, Jams and Jellies paired with herbs, Fruit Sauces, Apple Butter, White Wine Mustard, Honey from the Mariani Bee Hives, and dried Rosemary.
The shoppe is open every day 9 am- 5 pm, welcoming everyone in from the cold, with special extended hours for the Canning for Kids event on December 7th, which will run from 5 pm until 7 pm. All of our designs and holiday wares will be on display and wonderful trees in all sizes will be there too. And a portion of sales from the evening will be gifted to the Ferrer Foundation to support their cause.
We hope to see you there, and next time, here, in the garden.Click here to visit the Mariani Landscape website. Comment »
